Right of withdrawal

What you can do if you change your mind.

In short: before you approve, a lot is possible; after that, not much. And if there is something wrong with what you receive, we always put it right.

Before you approve

Up to the moment you approve the story, everything can still change. You can have scenes rewritten, ask Mira to come up with something else, and you can simply stop — nothing has been printed yet.

If you want to cancel your order at that stage, write to [email protected]. If nothing has been produced, we refund whatever there is to refund.

Why the fourteen-day cooling-off period does not apply here

When you buy online you normally have fourteen days to change your mind. There is an exception for goods made to your specification — article 16(c) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive, which in Dutch law is article 6:230p of the Civil Code.

A story about your child, with your names and your memories in it, is exactly such a product: it cannot be sold to anyone else. That is why we ask at checkout for your express consent that we start straight away, and that you give up your right of withdrawal by doing so. That box is deliberately not ticked in advance.

The same goes for digital files: once the eBook or the audiobook is ready for you, delivery is complete.

What always applies

Apart from the cooling-off period you keep your ordinary rights. We put it right if:

  • the book arrives damaged or incomplete;
  • the printing is wrong — wrong colours, a crooked trim, missing pages;
  • you receive something other than what you ordered;
  • the order does not arrive.

Send us a photo and your order number in that case. We send a new copy, or refund you if you prefer. You do not have to send anything back.

If making the story fails altogether because something went wrong on our side, you get your money back for what was not delivered.

What we do not count as a fault

A story that is different from what you had pictured is not a defect — that is what the approval step is for. Read the proposal and the full story at your leisure before you approve, and ask for changes while there is still time. That costs nothing.

A drawing is a drawing, not an edited photograph. That a character does not look exactly like the photo is inherent to an illustration; you approve the likeness of every character yourself before the story is made.

How to reach us

Write to [email protected] with your order number and what is going on. You do not need a form; an ordinary message is enough.
