For whom
For a child, or for a special occasion
That is the first question Mira asks, and it changes the whole book: the length, the tone and what the story is about.
For a child
From toddler to teenager. The age sets the choice of words, the sentence length, the number of pages and how much picture there is — Mira writes for the reader, not for the buyer.
Start a children's story →For a special occasion
An anniversary, a retirement, a farewell, a friendship of thirty years. Here the occasion counts for more than the age: the story is about what you have been through together, and is written for adult readers.

Worked out
Fully written out
For these subjects we have written down what fits in a story, with their own story ideas and advice on age. You can choose from everything above.
Four occasions, fully written out
Sometimes the occasion counts for more than the subject. For these moments we have already written down what fits in a story.
Birthday
The one gift nobody else can give.
First day of school
Exciting it stays. Unknown it need not be.
New brother or sister
Becoming a big brother or sister does not just happen.
Mother’s Day
A book in which Mum reads about herself.
Father’s Day
A book in which Dad is the hero. Almost.
Christmas
A Christmas story that begins in your house.
Sinterklaas
A book that knows what was in the shoe.
About choosing
Do I have to choose a theme myself?
No. On every screen "Let Mira choose" sits among the other options — a real choice, not a skip button. You can also type your own idea instead of choosing from the list.
Can I combine several subjects?
You choose one theme and one subject; that sets the direction. Everything else you give — the people, the interests, the memory — comes on top and colours the story just as much. A story about dinosaurs in which Grandpa comes along is about both.
My subject is not listed?
Then choose "I have an idea of my own" and describe it in your own words. Mira works just as well with that; the list is a help, not a limit.
Does the theme change what is in the book?
Yes, considerably. The theme and the subject decide where the story takes place and what happens. The age decides how it is told. The same characters with a different theme make a very different book.
From what age is this suitable?
From about two to twelve or so, and alongside that stories for a special occasion, where age counts less than the occasion.
