Birthday
The one gift nobody else can give.
A birthday present is usually something the child could have got somewhere else too. Not this. Mira makes a story about thém, about how old they are turning and about the people who are there that day.
Personal. Really personal.
What of a birthday can go in the story
Not "hooray, you are six", but what has changed thís year.
- how old they are turning, and what that means according to them
- who is coming, and who cannot be there
- what they have been asking for all year
- something they dared for the first time this year
- the tradition that belongs to your family
- a message from you, on the first page
“She turned straight back to the first page to find her gran again.”

Sometimes all you need is a small idea
Three directions Mira can take
The present nobody had wrapped
Among the gifts stands one without a card, and without paper it would fit in.
Turning six takes exactly one day
About everything that changes between going to sleep as a five-year-old and waking up as a six-year-old.
The cake that would not stand still
The cream is moving. Nobody expected that, and the party only gets better for it.
You need not choose. “Let Mira choose” is there too, and your own idea is always welcome.
From your world
What you tell, and what comes out
- Liv, 6
- turning 7
- friend Ravi
- loves climbing
- Grandpa cannot be there
Mira’s proposal
Liv climbs to her seventh
On the morning of her birthday there is a ladder in the garden that seems to reach above the clouds. Ravi holds it steady, and at the top Grandpa turns out to be able to watch after all.
An example of what such a proposal looks like. Yours will be about you.
Your story. In the format that suits you.

Questions people often ask
How far in advance should I order?
For a hardcover, a few working days after your approval. Writing and illustrating happen the same day; the rest is printing and delivery. An eBook you have straight away.
Can there be a message from me in it?
Yes. Just before checkout you can write a message — "For Liv, from Mum & Dad". It goes on a page of its own at the front, where it belongs in a real book.
Can the friends from the party be in it?
Up to five characters in total, so the birthday child plus four others. Ask their parents’ permission if you use their photos — they are their children, and that is only right.
