Sinterklaas
A book that knows what was in the shoe.
Sinterklaas is all about details that are right: the shoe by the radiator, the song that always goes out of tune, the carrot that is half eaten in the morning. Mira uses yours, and then the story really is about this year.
Personal. Really personal.
What of your Sinterklaas can go in
The smaller the detail, the greater the wonder. Children remember exactly where the shoe stood.
- where the shoe stands, and whose it is
- the song that always goes with it
- what was in it, and what was not
- brothers, sisters, cousins
- this year’s wish list
- the tradition you invented yourselves
“She turned straight back to the first page to find her gran again.”

Sometimes all you need is a small idea
Three directions Mira can take
The shoe that disappeared
In the morning there is nothing by the radiator. The shoe itself is gone too.
The wrong present
It has a name on it that nobody in the house has. Someone will have to go and deliver it.
Who was singing along?
While singing there is one voice too many, and it is not coming from the room.
You need not choose. “Let Mira choose” is there too, and your own idea is always welcome.
From your world
What you tell, and what comes out
- Jules, 5
- little sister Wies
- shoe by the stove
- loves drawing
- wants a skateboard
Mira’s proposal
Jules and the drawing that came back
The drawing Jules put in his shoe is gone in the morning — and three days later it is there again, with something drawn on it that he could never have thought up himself.
An example of what such a proposal looks like. Yours will be about you.
Your story. In the format that suits you.

Questions people often ask
Does the secret stay believable?
Mira nowhere writes that something is not real. The story takes place in your house with what you have told — how you present it is up to you.
Can it be a surprise or a little present in the shoe?
Both. The eBook fits in a QR code on a card, and a hardcover fits under the wrapping paper. There is MiraTells wrapping paper too if you want that with it.
Can cousins be in it too?
Yes, up to five characters in total. For bigger families it usually works better to make a story of their own per child — then everyone is the main character once.
